Netflix and chill
Netflix and chill is a slang term for inviting someone over for casual sex, similar to a "Booty Call", watching Netflix and chilling out while doing so. The term was originally coined on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. It was first used in 2009, but, by 2015, it had become so popular that that year, ''Fusion'' described it as "inescapable" among teenage internet users.
==History==
Netflix began offering online content, such as movies and TV shows, in 2007. The first recorded use of the phrase "Netflix and chill" was in a tweet posted in 2009.〔 Originally, the phrase's meaning was not sexual but simply referred to watching the streaming service Netflix by oneself. In 2013 Netflix’s popularity rose greatly in the US. It accumulated millions of paid subscribers and due to this new-found popularity the use of the term “Netflix and Chill” increased. The euphemistic nature of the phrase began to be established in 2014,〔 when numerous girls who had been asked to "Netflix and chill" by boys, and had thought that this referred only to watching Netflix, discovered the boys' true motive—sex.〔 In April 2015, a definition of the phrase was added to Urban Dictionary that said that it meant "code for two people going to each others houses and fucking or doing other sexual related acts.".〔〔 The popularity also began to
mutate the term, resulting in different variations which referred to other services and websites such as YouTube and Hulu.〔
